LITTLE ROCK, Ark, (Feb. 13, 2007) – Global Manufacturing of Little Rock became the first firm in the state to participate in a new service offered by Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions, “Eureka! Winning Ways: Choices for Growth.” The new service helps small and mid-sized manufacturers discover a portfolio of 50 choices for growth and then refines, researches and accelerates development of the best choices for growing top line sales. The two-day event being held Feb. 13-14 is being lead by Doug Hall, founder and CEO of Eureka! Ranch Technology, Ltd, a business development consultancy that has a set of patented (and patent pending) development and research tools that prior to this have only been available to the Ranch’s Fortune 500 clients such as Nike, Walt Disney, Procter & Gamble and American Express. These tools include: • Eureka! Cycle Ideation – A method for discovering ideas for business growth that leverages the thinking strengths of adults - as opposed to classic brainstorming that often encourages idealistic and childish creativity. • Ideas to Paper – A disciplined process that uses writing to refine business-building ideas. It involves using the writing mindset of the Poet, Novelist, Journalist and Lawyer. • Merwyn Truth Teller Research – A patented computer simulation that benchmarks the probability of success for new ideas. It helps separate big ideas from costly losers, early in the development process before significant investments of time, energy and money. During “Choices for Growth,” Global Manufacturing executives develop ideas based on what the Eureka! Ranch considers the Three Pillars of Growth: 1) Improving Sales & Marketing Message Effectiveness, 2) New Customers and Markets and 3) New or Improved Products or Services that anticipate customer’s future needs. The Global Manufacturing session is a prototype of the service that will be introduced locally later this year by Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions. Doug and the Eureka! Ranch are considered experts at helping large companies grow sales. However, this program was designed 100% for small businesses. “Eureka! Winning Ways is not a big company hand me down.” Hall said, “Rather, we’ve taken the Ranch Technologies and adapted them based on over 1,300 hours of front line coaching, research and development with small business owners in the USA, Canada and Scotland.” Key changes to the program have included: 1) a radical simplification of program language and operations, 2) a focus on delivering practical “choices for growth” as opposed to theoretical marketing or innovation concepts, and 3) dramatic reduction in the cost of the program. “Eureka! Winning Ways” brings Eureka! Ranch Technologies to small manufacturing companies at 5 to 10% of the $50,000 to $250,000 that large corporations pay for Eureka! Ranch consulting. This is possible because of a nationwide partnership between Eureka! Ranch Technology and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). AMS is the local provider of MEP services. “We have been able to reduce the cost to small businesses by 90 to 95% because of NIST/MEP network efficiencies.” Hall said, “MEP centers like AMS have low overhead costs, cost effective consultant staffing plus state and federal financial support for helping small and medium-sized US manufacturing companies survive, thrive and grow jobs.” “We are pleased that AMS is participating in a pilot of MEP’s first Eureka! Winning Ways service offering, Choices for Growth,” said Lydia Carson, AMS Director. “Choices for Growth will help Global Manufacturing efficiently and effectively identify ideas for growth that have the highest probability of success, resulting in greater top-line growth and profitability.” In recognition of his dedication to helping entrepreneurs, Hall has been recognized with an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Prince Edward Island. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s TV program “Venture” declared, “Hall is a corporate Robin Hood; he takes from his big corporate clients and gives to small businesses.” The public best knows Hall from his best selling books, his appearances on DATELINE NBC, as the co-host of Brain Brew Radio and as the no nonsense “Truth Teller” Judge on ABC TV’s American Inventor program last spring. Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions (AMS), a program of the Arkansas Science & Technology Authority and an affiliate of MEP, has been instrumental in helping hundreds of Arkansas manufacturers increase sales and profits by cutting costs and improving manufacturing processes. AMS provides technical and management assistance that improves the quality, productivity and global competitiveness of manufacturing firms throughout Arkansas.
