Biography
Dr. Darin Nutter is a Professor and Interim Department Head of the University of Arkansas’ Department of Mechanical Engineering. He received his B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering at Oklahoma State University and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. Dr. Nutter’s research interests are encompassed within the broad area of thermal or energy systems. More specifically, over the last 25 years, his background and focus has been on the improvement of HVAC&R systems and manufacturing/processing plants, with regard to operation, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Dr. Nutter is the former director of the Arkansas Industrial Energy Clearinghouse. He has performed over 150 industrial manufacturing plant and commercial building energy assessments. Before attending Texas A&M, he worked as a corporate facilities engineer for Fleming Companies, Inc., a national wholesale food distribution company. Dr. Nutter has published over 70 technical papers and 50 technical reports in the area of energy systems and conservation. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), a member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and a registered professional engineer in Arkansas.
