Situation

Worldwide Label and Packaging has requested assistance in the areas of ISO 9001 internal auditor training, incorporation of a new value stream within its QMS (Quality Management System), and assistance with implementing a lean manufacturing system. It is the desire of AMS to provide assistance in the most cost-effective manner possible.

Solution

Worldwide Label completed ISO-9001 training to review new requirements and undergo internal auditor training. An ISO on-site consultation provided an opportunity for internal auditors to receive coaching and consultation by AMS team members. Finally, company personnel attended a Lean 101 “basic training” workshop to learn about the concepts of lean manufacturing and apply them during simulation exercises.

Results
  • Sales increased by half a million dollars over 12 months.
  • The company saw cost savings of about $250,000 in labor, materials and other areas.
  • Five new direct jobs were created as a result of services and 10 were retained.
  • A Temporary pool was established to support new value stream.
